These two books are the antidote to the mythology endlessly promoted in the other Kelly books such as the one by Ian Jones and by Peter Fitzsimons. You could design a fantastic unit to teach critical thinking by getting students to investigate the basis for Kelly mythology that would equip them not only to see through the Kelly fairy tales but irrational and illogical argument wherever it occurs. How about asking the students to investigate the claim that Ned Kelly is Australias Robin Hood? Another interesting approach would be to ask them to compare what is known about Glenrowan with what Ned Kelly claimed about it in the letters he wrote in Melbourne Gaol! Naturally you will recommend they make use of this website as the best place to start their investigations! I am a school teacher (gr 5) and I love teaching of this era in our history. I have read many books on Ned Kelly, visited Beechworth and other sites. I now am in two minds. Have I just been led by the nose in my education of Ned Kelly?? <br />There is so much material here, that I don't know where to start. Any suggestions?Gr teacherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09873796097414341520noreply@blogger.com
